    Chery Motor Australia 7-year new car warranty Policy statement

    The warranties set out below are provided by Chery Motor Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 28 662 958 205) trading as Chery Motor Australia, as the authorised importer/distributor of Chery vehicles in Australia.

    The benefits conferred by this warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies of the consumer under a law in relation to the product.

    Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

    Our commitment

    To ensure you enjoy every drive to the fullest, Chery Motor Australia provides you with a 7-year/unlimited Kilometres Warranty. As referred to above, this in no way limits your statutory rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

    Warranty Coverage Period

    The Chery New Vehicle 7-year/unlimited kilometres Warranty commences on the day your new vehicle is first registered. If you purchase a demonstrator vehicle, the warranty began when the vehicle was registered by your Chery Dealer and put into service as a demonstrator vehicle, and you are entitled to the balance of the warranty coverage period.

    For vehicles that are used primarily as a taxi, ride sharing, hire, rental, driving school vehicle and or a vehicle used for delivery / courier purposes that have been retailed through an authorised Chery Dealer. The Chery New Vehicle coverage period is 7-years or 150,000km’s. which ever occurs first.

    Chery Motor Australia warrants that for the warranty coverage period, Chery Motor Australia will repair or replace any part on the vehicle (except for those items listed below under the section titled ‘ITEMS NOT COVERED’) which proves to be defective in materials or workmanship, free of charge, subject to the terms and conditions of this warranty.

    Warranty repair or parts replacement will be performed by an authorized Chery Dealer at its place of business within a reasonable time after delivery of the vehicle to the dealer during normal business hours.

    To claim on this Warranty, the Vehicle and the Service Booklet must be delivered by the owner at their expense to an authorised Chery Dealer, and delivery of the vehicle after completion of the repair shall be taken by the owner at their expense at the workshop in question.     Warranty cover explained

    The new vehicle Warranty only covers new Chery vehicles bought and driven in Australia. It does not cover any vehicle exported or driven overseas. Equally, this warranty is not available on overseas purchases that are imported into Australia.

    The owner of the vehicle is responsible to ensure that the vehicle is serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s service guidelines and service intervals. Damage or defects relating to improper service or lack of service may not be accepted under the terms of this warranty. Any consequential, direct or incidental loss or damage is not covered under the terms of this warranty. It is the vehicle owner’s responsibility to provide the vehicle for repairs.

    What is covered

    Chery Motor Australia warrants that for the warranty coverage period, Chery Motor Australia will repair or replace any part on the vehicle (except for those items listed below under the section titled ‘ITEMS NOT COVERED’) which proves to be defective in materials or workmanship, free of charge, subject to the terms and conditions of this warranty.

    Items not covered

    Tyres and batteries are not covered by this Warranty. Please see further below for information relating to tyres and batteries.

    Any damage of defect arising from any form of neglect, misuse or are not covered by this Warranty.

    Normal maintenance services including, but not limited to, wheel balancing, tyre rotation, headlight aiming, engine tune-up, replacement of light bulbs, distributor points, spark plugs, drive belts, worn clutch discs, worn brake pads/shoes, wiper blades, filters, lubricants and coolant, are not covered by this Warranty.

    This Warranty does not cover wheel alignments and balancing, brake adjustments or mechanical repairs which become necessary as a result of normal wear and tear.

    This Warranty does not cover normal wear and items, meaning the gradual reduction in operating performance of a part or parts having regard to the age of the vehicle, the distance it has travelled and its operating conditions. This includes but is not limited to the replacement of clutch linings, brake pads/discs, windshield wiper blades, incandescent bulbs, fuses, worn seat covers and other trim, paint and appearance items that wear out through normal use or deterioration.

    Warranty coverage does not apply in the following circumstances:

    • Vehicle has not been serviced and maintained as per the manufacturer’s guidelines.
    • The defects are due to modifications not approved/authorised by Chery Motor Australia.
    • The defects are caused by abuse or negligence.
    • The vehicle has been written off by any insurance company or government vehicle regulation body.
    • Accidents, theft or fire or illegal use.
    • Use of non-recommended, improper or dirty fuel, fluid, oil or lubricant.
    • Defects caused by work carried out by repairers other than authorised Chery Dealers or approved repairers.
    • The defects are due to installation or use of non-genuine parts.
    • Continuing to drive the vehicle after loss of lubricants, oils, refrigerant or water on or after knowledge of failure.
    • The defects are due to the vehicle having been loaded beyond the manufacturer’s specifications.
    • The defects are due to the vehicle being used for purposes for which it was not designed, such as rallying, racing, hill climbing, speed trials or similar activities, towing beyond weight limits recommended by the company or all terrain use.
    • Deterioration due to use and exposure and or damage/corrosion from environmental conditions such as fall-out, salt, stones, tree sap, bird droppings, hail, flood or acts of God.

    Further, and subject to s.259(4), s.271 (2) and s.271(4) and s.272(2) of Australian Consumer Law, Chery Motor Australia excludes any and all liability for loss or damage for problems:

    • unrelated to Chery Motor Australia ‘s conduct.
    • unrelated to the goods supplied by Chery Motor Australia; or
    • caused by something independent of Chery Motor Australia after the goods have left its control.

    7-year Body and Paint warranty

    This warranty covers any repair or replacement of body sheet metal parts that have been perforated by rust. This includes:

    • A body panel that contains a physical hole (from the inside out) through a body panel due to corrosion, caused as a result of a manufacturing fault.
    • A body panel that contains a paint durability or finish defect caused as a result of a manufacturing fault.

    Tyre warranty

    The tyres originally installed on a new Chery vehicle are warranted by the tyre manufacturer.

    In order to obtain tyre warranty service, present the unserviceable tyre(s) to a local tyre agent, unless otherwise directed by Chery Motor Australia. An authorised Chery dealer can assist you in requesting an adjustment through a local tyre agent, if necessary.

    High Voltage Battery warranty

    The original high voltage battery supplied with the vehicle comes with a 2-year warranty from the date of delivery to the original purchaser.

    8 year/unlimited km high voltage battery warranty terms and conditions

    The Chery New Vehicle 7-year/unlimited kilometres Warranty commences on the day your new vehicle is first registered. If you purchase a demonstrator vehicle, the warranty begins when the vehicle is registered by your Chery Dealer. You are entitled to the balance of the warranty coverage period. 

    The high-voltage battery supplied with the vehicle comes with an 8-year/unlimited* kilometre warranty from the date of delivery to the original purchaser when the vehicle is first registered. The warranty will also apply if the net residual energy capacity of the high-voltage battery falls below 70% relative to the energy capacity at the time of delivery, over the course of the warranty period. This is subject to an energy capacity measurement carried out at an authorised Chery Motor Australia dealer, and is at the sole discretion of Chery Motor Australia. If the high-voltage battery requires warranty repair, Chery Motor Australia will repair the battery, or replace it with a new, reconditioned or remanufactured part at the sole discretion of Chery Motor Australia. 

    The warranty replacement may not restore the vehicle to a "like new" condition, but when replacing a high-voltage battery, Chery Motor Australia will ensure that the energy capacity of the replacement high-voltage battery is at least equal to that of the original high-voltage battery before the failure occurred while taking into consideration other factors, including the age and mileage of the vehicle. 

    The warranty for the high-voltage battery will not apply if; the defect or damage including the excessive loss of capacity has resulted from unapproved modification to parts or to vehicle software from original specification, improper use, handling or maintenance of the battery, including from a traffic accident or if the battery has come into contact with open flames or liquids such as high pressure water, floods or steam cleaning and intentionally attempting to increase or reduce the life of the battery whether by physical or programming means. This also comprises the failure to follow instructions applying to the operation, treatment and care of the charging or state of charge of the high-voltage battery described in the Owner's manual suppled with the vehicle. Exclusions also apply if the high-voltage battery has been permanently removed or is no longer operated in conjunction with the vehicle. 

    This high-voltage battery, like all batteries, will experience gradual energy or power loss with time and use. Loss of battery energy or power over time due to or resulting from battery usage is NOT covered under this warranty, except to the extent specified in this warranty.
